When You Feel Purposeless and Fear You’re Wasting Time

“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” ~George Bernard Shaw

I wanted a guarantee.

I wanted to know for sure that if I tried to do something, I would like it; if I devoted my limited time to it, I’d end up somewhere good.

I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, and I felt certain this was a phenomenal failing—because if you don’t know right now what you need to do to make your life count, life will pass you by before you’ve ever had a chance to do something meaningful or valuable. At least, that’s what I thought back then.

So I sat around thinking, analyzing, trying to identify something big enough or good enough, terrified that maybe I’d spend the rest of my days feeling purposeless, useless, on the fringe; doing the same thing in my professional life as I’d always done in my personal life: feeling like I was on the outside looking in.

10 Things to Do When You’re Feeling Stuck

Did your va-va lose its voom? Your edge its steely sharpness? Boomerang not coming back? Mojo not working its magic?

Chances are you’re suffering from the age-old disease of “stuck.” People feel their best when their focus and productivity are freely flowing. But when you’re stuck, you’re probably not feeling so great.

First frustration sets in and maybe even a bit of fear. No one wants to be in a place of listlessness and lagging energy. You’re uninspired and it shows. And if you’re an entrepreneur, you can’t do that for long periods and expect your business to grow. How can you get out of this place?

Two Kind Words That Can Change or Save a Life

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” ~Leo Buscaglia

Amazing things that would happen when you finally let go

Sometimes, you have to let go before you can move forward.

All of us must decide, at various points over the course of our lives, whether or not to let go of something or someone that is making us unhappy. Whether it’s a toxic partner, an unhealthy job, or an irredeemable friendship, there are times when you have to let go and move on.

If you have recently taken the brave step of letting go of a situation or individual that was doing you no favors, congratulations! Your life is about to seriously improve. Here’s how and why.

Top 5 Lessons After Reading 500+ Self-Help Books

By the time I was 15 years old, my mom, sister, and I had moved homes at least 25 times. My father was an alcoholic. I was getting government-paid school lunches and had a weekend job at a local bakery. I was not surrounded by much ambition or inspiration. But I knew the life I was given was special. I yearned to do something important with it, but I couldn’t find the words to explain this to anyone (and even if I could, I doubted I could find anyone who would entertain my “very optimistic” ideas).

The amazing story of Malala Yousafzai

Malala was 11 years old when she wrote her first BBC diary entry. Under the blog heading “I am afraid,” she described her fear of a full-blown war in her beautiful Swat Valley, and her nightmares about being afraid to go to school because of the Taliban.

11 Things to Make You Happier According to Science

Obviously, we all want to be happier. But there’s another reason to wish to be more lighthearted and content: Happiness is definitely a result, but happiness is also a driver.

While I’m definitely into finding ways to improve personal productivity (whether aone-day burst of output, or a lifetime of increased effectiveness, or things you should not do every day), probably the best way to be more productive is to just be happier.

Happy people accomplish more.

Easier said than done though, right?

Indonesia in my eyes…

Guilty as charged, I was never really proud of my own country. It was more of love- hate relationship being caught in loving the charm from a Gado-Gado but hating the fact that it always has a way to take away your willpower in instances where most phone numbers here do not actually work. As someone who has traveled and moved around countries and cities, I’m just now realizing that the most important changes in my life actually occurs in the country where I live. For better or for worse, despite the challenges or maybe because of them – I love Indonesia.
