Here’s your knife back

The sting of betrayal comes from inside me. It is the message that I am not worthy. It recently happened to me that someone betrayed me. Perhaps it was a big betrayal, perhaps it was a small one. The circumstances don’t really matter. That’s the thing about betrayal—it always feels big at the time.

As someone who grew up in Singapore where extreme poverty is terribly rare and virtually never mentioned in domestic mass media, shooting this series had an incredibly profound impact on me.
